One can see tulips and poppies woven into a rich, flowing pattern. This was always a definitive style of Morris which was later made best known for the Wallpapers. The scale of the flowers indicates that the paper was intended for a large, ceremonial room.
This design was created and then produced in 1896 as a wallpaper for private houses. It was first mounted in now a City of England called Wolverhampton (situated in Central England). The 19th-century Wolverhampton Art Gallery now has the collection of William Morris interiors and landscapes.
